This week, we all carefully watched the projected track of Elsa as it approached the Florida coast. The first named storm to make landfall in our state this hurricane season, it brought heavy rain and wind to much of Florida’s peninsula. While the storm has passed, we should all remember to stay aware and be prepared for future storms that might threaten our state.

This storm, thankfully, wasn’t a major hurricane. However, it is a good reminder for everyone to take stock of emergency plans and supplies. Identify evacuation routes, know whether you live in a flood zone, obtain enough water and canned food to last at least three days and learn how to properly prepare your home against strong winds.
